Jennifer Joyner-Hall
Dr. Jennifer Joyner-Hall is a Clinical Psychologist licensed in the District of Columbia. She has trained at various schools, community mental health clinics and conducted research at Children’s National Medical Center before earning a Doctorate of Psychology from George Washington University.
Dr. Joyner-Hall completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Fifth Avenue Center for Psychotherapy in New York City, working with adults in a vibrant outpatient setting. While in NYC, she also conducted research at Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center to grow her clinical expertise with hopes of building a private practice that focused on transition across the life span.
Dr. Joyner-Hall remained in NYC to complete her post-doctoral work at Columbia University/New York Presbyterian’s School Mental Health program and continued to see adult clients at the Fifth Avenue Center.
Dr. Joyner-Hall returned to Washington, DC in 2006 to work at the DC Department of Behavioral Health School Mental Health Program. During her tenure at DBH, she provided mental health services to high school-aged children and their families. She also served as a residential treatment care evaluator, evaluating the therapeutic care of children placed in residential treatment outside of DC.
Dr. Joyner-Hall started her private practice in 2008 and began consulting with the PAC (Program for Agreement and Cooperation) program at DC Superior Courts. There she helped families, particularly adolescents, understand the impact of postseparation conflict in a group setting.
After several years of providing PAC groups to the DC Courts and becoming more engaged in Family Court and alternate dispute resolution, her passion grew to a desire to help parents thrive post separation. She left the DC Government in 2009 to take on a role as Director of Office of Parenting Coordination at DC Superior Courts. In addition to training doctoral students, she was responsible for helping parents move through custody disputes by providing direct PC services.
Through her work at the courts, Dr. Joyner- Hall also had the had the opportunity to contribute to Parenting Coordination in Postseparation Disputes: A Comprehensive Guide for Practitioners. Dr. Joyner-Hall continued to work at the DC Superior Courts until 2012.
In 2012, Dr. Joyner-Hall transitioned to full time private practice. She currently helps individuals and families with typical life span challenges. An influx of clients experiencing separation, divorce, and coparenting challenges prompted her return to Parenting Coordination work.
Dr. Joyner-Hall lives in Washington, DC with her husband and children.
